Frequently Asked Questions

1What is an Auction Depot auction?

Auctions on AuctionDepot.net are all online, but not like auctions on Ebay.

With us, you can inspect the items before you bid. We invite you to stop buy our auction gallery at 6055 N Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID to take a look.

If you are unable to visit the auction gallery, call us and we will describe the item the best we can and answer any questions you have over the phone.

We also conduct our auctions in a slightly different manner. Each auction item has a “soft close”. A soft close means that if an item receives a bid in the final 5 minutes of the auction, the time is extended by 2-5 minutes, giving you another opportunity to bid. This process continues until no more bids are received. This makes the auction more similar to a live auction where the auctioneer continues asking for additional bids until the bid is no longer advanced.

2How do I register for an auction?

Go to one of our auctions and click on the register link. You only need to register once – after that, you can login to any of our auctions. We do require a credit card to register. The card that you register with will be charged for any items you are high bidder on. We do make payment exceptions for high dollar items – read the terms and conditions for each auction to determine how payment will be collected, or call our office if you need some exceptions.

3Where can I find the terms and conditions for an auction?

Terms and Conditions are located under “Auction Details” on the auction event page.

4How does an auction end?

An auction only ends when all bidding has stopped. The auction end date/time is posted for each auction, but some items may continue beyond that if there is active bidding on those items. If a bid is placed within the last 3 minutes, the auction will extend an additional 3 minutes. This will continue until no more bids are received and the timer runs out. (Some auctions have longer extensions).

We also allow for “related items closings” – which means all items in an auction may not close at the same time – this allows bidders to submit bids on multiple or related items without time running out. Example: We are selling a tractor and its implements. The implements will not close until after the tractor closes, as whoever buys the tractor would be interested in bidding on the implements as well.

5How do I know I if I’ve been outbid or won an auction?

You will receive an email letting you know that you have been outbid, or you will receive an invoice via email when you are the winning bidder. Make sure the email you register with is current so you do not miss these important emails.

6How do I pay for my items?

Payment terms are specified in the auction’s terms and conditions.

7Can items be shipped?

Shipping is available on many auctions/items, but not all auctions that offer shipping will ship all items. Check in the Auction’s Terms & Conditions for shipping costs and availability. Shipping is always at the expense of the buyer. Directions for arranging shipping can usually be found in the Auction Terms & Conditions.

Shipping insurance is recommended for all shipped items and must be arranged by the buyer. Auction Depot is not responsible for items damaged during the shipping and handling process.
